smooga launches reading corners at nursery world

Smooga today launches its ‘reading corners’ at The Nursery World Show (Stand 158) to complement its award winning playground arena specifically aimed at early years to create a fun and safe environment for children to play.

The four colourful reading corner designs have been produced to replicate a post office, garage, construction site and café, adding more dimensions to play or simply providing a quiet a corner to read.

Smooga panels are already prevalent in primary schools across the UK and can be used to create an arena to run around in, play ball games or to keep children in a safe zone, protected from other playground activities.

Commenting on the new smooga ‘reading corners’ Katja Partridge, Nursery Nurse at Tower Hill School in Oxfordshire, said:  “The new panels will make perfect reading and play corners. I think they look great, would definitely enhance learning and our kids would love them. They would be a safe and fun place to play.”

Smooga has previously worked with Tower Hill School providing mini arenas for the children in addition to older children benefitting from football coaching delivered by Oxford United players and coaches.

Joel Graham PE teacher at Tower Hill School, says; “The smooga court was extremely beneficial to me in helping to deliver PE lessons. It helped contain the children in the same area and stopped balls rolling away. I would highly recommend smooga to anyone wanting to enhance school playgrounds or just to experience a modern way of enjoying sports.”

Smooga was founded in 2012 by husband and wife team Keith and Carolyn Place, who successfully transformed their idea of creating a ‘smart portable multi-use games arena’ known as a smooga, into a product that’s won national awards including the Education Resources Awards 2015.

Co-founder, Keith Place, comments: “The team is looking forward to working more closely with nurseries to help make outside play more manageable for all involved, whether that’s creating a small area for quiet time or using smooga panels to form a zoning wall, helping to keep ball sports played by pre-school children away from toddlers.”

The Nursery World Show takes place at London’s Business Design Centre from 5 – 6 February 2016.  Visit the Smooga team on Stand 158 or to find out more information, email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
